It began with my own wedding.

In the months before my marriage, I kept searching for a way to hold on to what I was feeling — the joy building week by week — and to welcome our guests with the same warmth we felt, in a form that fits how families actually share news today: a link, passed hand to hand through WhatsApp.

I found digital wedding invitations, and I loved the idea. But nothing I found was made for us. Nothing opened with a bismillah. Nothing understood that a wedding might be a mehndi night, a nikah and a walima — three gatherings, three guest lists. Nothing knew the difference between decoration and reverence, or that an invitation would be opened in homes where that difference matters.

So I set out to build it — for the Ummah, in all the cultures where Islam is deeply rooted. I was born and raised in London, in a Sudanese family; NoorWeds is built here, and you'll find my own heritage among the twelve templates, in Golden Khartoum. I come from a product design background, and I work with modern tools; every template is designed and art-directed here, produced with today's technology, inspected piece by piece, and every order is finished by a person before a couple ever sees it.
