Handmade cream paper with deckled edges, blind-embossed olive branches, and a sage wax seal. The olive branch is the Levant’s oldest blessing — peace carried from one house to another, which is what an invitation is.

Midnight blue under strings of star lanterns, bordered in gold ornament in the spirit of Abbasid Baghdad. The light comes from many small flames, not one bright one — the way an evening celebration actually glows.

Palestine · Tatreez red · Cream

Stone-cream paper crossed by a woven tatreez band, its cross-stitch worked in deep red — the thread language of Palestinian dresses — sealed with a damask rose in burgundy wax.

Egypt · Teal · Gold

Deep teal paper with brass corner fittings and the crescent of a Ramadan fanous. The lotus on its seal is Egypt’s oldest flower, drawn long before there were cards to press it into.

Morocco · Zellige green · White

A riad garden held in cream handmade paper: jasmine at the corner, zellige geometry in the borders, a sage seal bearing the garden’s own flower. Morocco’s luxury has always been a quiet courtyard.

Wine-dark velvet, gold-stitched edges, a gold rose pressed in wax. One material, one metal, one flower — restraint as the whole design.

Terracotta paper blind-embossed with paisley — the buta that mehndi artists have drawn on hands for centuries — and a deep burgundy seal the colour of henna the morning after.

Rosewood velvet with gold corner ornaments and the arch of a Mughal darbar. Made for weddings that are courts for a night — processions, poetry, and the long dinner.

North Africa · Emerald · Cream

Emerald silk behind a horseshoe arch — the doorway shape of al-Andalus and the Maghreb — edged in a single gold line. Green and gold, the oldest pairing in Islamic ornament.

Bangladesh · Red · Ivory

Ivory jamdani weave — Bengal’s heirloom cloth, patterned on the loom rather than printed — with marigold silk and a deep red seal. The flowers are woven in, the way Dhaka has always done it.

Black leather-grain paper carrying an unbroken gold geometric lattice, sealed in antique gold. Najdi geometry does not decorate the surface — it is the surface.

The red and gold of the jirtig: lacquered vessels, coin strands, folk motifs on black bands. A design that keeps the Sudanese ceremony’s colours exactly as the family courtyard remembers them.
